Stripping paint from wood

Due to weathering and other external influences, lacquered surfaces are subject to flaking and peeling over time. Before applying a new layer of paint, all residues must be completely stripped of residues. Compared to other methods, brushing allows you to tap into a variety of benefits.

On surfaces that have already been painted, the paint layer may chip due to the weather, destroying the protective layer for the wood against external environmental influences. In addition, the desired appearance of the wood is disturbed by the splintering.

In order to give the wood complete protection, the old varnish must be completely removed so that it can then be recoated. Whether for private use when renovating a garden fence or for stripping paint from large wooden houses.

What surface tools offer

Various processes and options are available for stripping varnish from wooden surfaces. But what added value does the use of surface tools offer?

This is what the use of tools for paint stripping offers:

  • Avoidaning of chemicals - no negative impact on nature and people
  • Fast and efficient work - no waiting time for the paint layers to come off
  • Can be used with various machines and devices thanks to various adaptation options
  • No tarnishing or discoloration due to the use of non-compatible chemicals
    • Caution with woods containing tannic acid: avoid using tools with steel wire
  • Small areas can be stripped without a machine using hand brushes
  • By using brushes, the surface can be roughened directly in one step
    • This ensures optimum preparation for the adhesion of the new paint layer
  • No "clogging" of the tool, such as when stripping paint with sandpaper

Tips for paint removal with brushes

Our application tips for paint stripping with brushes:

  • Ideally, rotating tools should be used for paint stripping work
  • When stripping varnish, work against the direction of the grain to avoid creating an undesirable deep structure or making it more pronounced
  • If possible, avoid using wire brushes to prevent unwanted material removal from the wood
  • If the surface is uneven, use brushes with different fill lengths (length of bristles). This allows the bristles to reach the "valleys" of the wood surface to be stripped
